Alvi stresses robust strategy to counter cyber threats

ISLAMABAD   -   President Dr Arif Alvi, while expressing concern over rising cyber security attacks said the risk of cyber attacks grew with Pakistan’s advancement towards digitalisation, thus requiring a robust strategy to effectively counter cyber threats and secure vital national data. The president was addressing the awards ceremony of the first nationwide Cyber Security Hackathon 2021 in Islamabad. The president said cyber data had become the most valuable commodity world over and stressed that Pakistan direly needed to produce millions of graduates in the field of cyber security keeping in view growing needs. Themed as ‘Hackers Ignited – Journey of young cyber security warriors’, the Hackathon was organised by Digital Pakistan under the auspicious of  Ministry of Information Technology & Telecom, and Ignite. Of 1176 registered teams, 475 participated in the qualifying rounds of the public-private sector sprint held at Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi in November in five categories.
